The Return of The List Maniac

Once upon a time, somebody who reads my blog commented upon my love for lists.
It has resurged.
So this is a list of things I wanted for Christmas. But obviously didn't get.

Superpowers

This is of course apart from my sarcasm.
Just imagine.
Plus, I've always wondered if you automatically get hotter when you get superpowers.
Or is it because you get superpowers?
Or is it just the movies?

A Fashion Blog
But you need to have a life for that.
I clearly don't have one.

A THE Boy

The unending quest. I don't think they make them anymore.
Did they lie in Dil Toh Pagal Hai then?
What About The Cure's The Perfect Boy?
The Happy Ever After Girl
One Day finds The Perfect Boy.

Dude. Even cool people like me can be sappy sometimes. :P

A Life.

Law School is not the right place to get one.
Of course Elle Woods is a lie!

Let's not even bring up the other things on the list.
Its sad and pathetic.
No wonder i stopped at FOUR.
Who stops at four things in a list?

Smart has the Brains. Stupid has the Balls. Be stupid.

This, my friends, is the best ad campaign I have seen in the longest time.
I mean, look at the ingenuity.
Just plain brilliant.
Now, my opinion of Diesel as a brand and the kind of clothes they make isn't the best. So, the first time I saw this ad campaign this scene played out in my head.
Advertising guys hired by them sitting in a room.
Guy 1: This is friggin' pissing off. What the pops is going to grab eyeballs?
Guy 2: True. Even the clothes are ugly. I mean, who wears diesel anyway? Torn overpriced clothes.
Guy 3: Stupid People.
*An 'idea-light bulb' moment*

But, what might have started as a joke has now become one of my favourite ad campaigns EVER.
Just see- Just see-

My love for this campaign may stem from my love of stupid people. But really, this should be the gospel of life.
Being stupid is being smart.
Be stupid.

When Even a Heartbreak is Beautiful: NLSMUN 2010

Principle of MUN

You know how there are some things you feel which English isn't equipped to describe?
And most of them are the kind of feelings you hate?
Like getting cranky and then just finding the right word- like frustration/indignation/annoyance etc.
The nice feelings are always simple. Pure rather.
And knowing something you waited for since right about forever has come to an end creates one such pure feeling.
Like how i felt when committee adjourned today. UNHRC at NLSMUN 2010. Pure but beautiful heartbreak. Like a job well done. Just one which you didn't want to end.

Now you'd think- why would anyone in the world like MUNs?
Vee says that it's just a bunch of grown ups playing pretend to feel a little important.
Its quite possibly true.
And its probably the reason I love MUNs so much.
Pure scams.
So easy.
So straightforward.

I <3 straightforward things. Which is exactly why i love dumb people.
Minimal functionalities. Figure out the formula and apply it.
An MUN committee is mostly like that. Figure it out. what everyone else wants. and then just articulate it for them. So simple. So Brilliant.

Like the beautiful woman- gas stove example for the Theory of Relativity. Motion to invade your national sovereignty? (Lame Joke. That's because I stole it. My jokes are always awesome)
Its cool like that.

But I also like MUN for attractive men. In suits. Yummy! ;)

Love and All That,
Niya

Why Are All Your Best Friends Boys?

So the other day, I was talking to this friend of mine about my life back in Bombay. And telling him about all my friends.
Of course there's nothing extraordinary about that. But then he asked me THAT question.
"Why are all your best friends boys?"
No one ordinarily analyzes who their best friends are and why. But this question put me in a position to think about it.
Why are all my best friends boys?
And then came the epiphany. Women are all terrible human beings. You can't differentiate the bitches from the women because there are NO OTHER WOMEN.

MY life’s greatest sorrow stems from my inability to feel close to other women. At 41, I’ve cautiously cultivated a few cherished female friendships. But generally I feel a kind of skittish distrust and discomfort when dealing with most women, particularly women in packs.
- Kelly Valen, available at http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/02/fashion/02love.html?pagewanted=1&_r=3 (Last visited on December 5, 2010) [Thanks for the link, Chetna Kumar]
*Legal Citation. Not doing it makes me feel a little incomplete now

And I'm not the only one in the world who thinks so!
I mean. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for "Boys are Stupid. Throw Rocks at Them". In fact, I emphatically believe that "All Boys are Monsters. Closet or Otherwise."
But those are the Boyfriends (Currently dating/Ex/Potential/I-wish-he-were). The Boy Friends are Awesome.
They ALWAYS spare you the drama. And don't rip you into teeny tiny shreds.

Women, on the other hand, just offer poor quality friendship. I mean, one minute you're the shrieking-in-a-public-place-and-hugging friend and the next minute you're the-whore-who-thinks-she's-god's-gift-to-mankind.
I mean. ARE YOU SERIOUS?

They're friends with you to steal your boyfriend or to hook up with your friend or to be able to borrow your stuff or to raise their social capital or something or the other that's worldly, materialistic and pathetic. And how can I forget the cut throat competition to be friends with the Queen Bee?
You might as well take the easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy way out and be friends with men. Because all men are nice. Its almost like Sesame Street.

So,
On performing a cost-benefit analysis, I concluded that it's okay if I have no Maid of Honour (Or whatever the Gujju wedding version of that is). I'll still have that wedding picture which I can title: Me and My Boys. My husband can deal with it.

PS- Law School is making me cite everything. No Fun. FML. I'm considering captioning all pictures now. Except i get them off google images and its damn tedious to discover the True Source.
PPS-I think i use the phrase "i mean" too much. You think?

Wall of Words

Her heart must be ash where her body lies burned.
what hope lets your hands rake the cold in real time?
- Agha Shahid Ali in "Ghazal"

There are words which are so so beautiful. Words which conceal pain. Sentences. Intricately crafted sentences.
They say more than they intend to say.
Time is not a healer. It merely conceals.
Pain is never hollow. It's the greatest reality.
The moon isn't beautiful. Its flawed, stealing another's light.
Love isn't real. It is the greatest lie.
Karma's a bitch. What goes around does come around.
Fear is a flaw. It creates and destroys.
Reality is a myth. But there is no parallel universe.
Colour. Darkness. Voids. Destiny.

But you still look for what's not out there. And pretend you've found it eventually.
True. That.
But there's a strange solace in words.

Little Miss Reads-a-Lot

This is in fond memory of my reading habit.
So, most bloggers are either artsy people looking to sell themselves or are writers.
As a rule, writers are ALWAYS voracious readers.
Since there's a lack of all things cool in my life, one must assume that i'm someone fond of writing.
Which puts me in the category of readers.
Now, moving on to my reading habit.
I've always loved reading and everything. Whether it was Fraggles when i was 4 to Nancy Drew to Enid Blyton to Harry Potter to Agatha Christie to Twilight to Sweet Valley to Sophie Kinsella to Meg Cabot to fancy Classics to Crap like Harlequins.
I've read them.
Ofcourse trashy reading is my favourite, can't you tell I'm the type?
So, now I came across this BBC list with 100 must-reads and i realized that i've read little of it. Obviously considering-
a) they're grown up books
b) they're boring books
c) I go to Law School. And I read academic writing.
But, I felt like crap.
So now i'm going to resume reading. In the holidays. Till them i will have to keep reading about negligence and recklessness or judicial activism or parenthood assumptions with respect to surrogacy contracts.
Chill, I'm not a pseudo intellectual. I rather enjoy being a little bit stupid.
My planned list is-
a) A suitable boy
b) The fountainhead
c) Memoirs of a geisha
d) 100 years of solitude
e) Life of Pi
I know I'm going to end up reading comics.
FML.

PS- I really want to be Elizabeth Bennett. Or Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Did you know Sleeping Beauty was called Aurora?

They Grow Music in the Strawberry Fields.

Arman Menzies of Goddess Gagged. Strawberry Fields 2010.

The People. The Rush. The Music. The Madness.
Strawberry Fields.
I mean, I know I'm talking about it like it's some fancypants concert. And I know it's a college rock fest.
But for me, its an experience.
Three days of unadulterated music.
Brilliance.
And I'm not even your unconventional bass-playing chick who head bangs to Rage Against the Machine. In fact, I'm quite gay and I tend to listen to Jack Johnson and John Mayer primarily.
But still.
There is nothing like SF.
Especially when your friends win it.
Goddess Gagged. They are so so so so so so so so so so good.
Check them out? http://www.myspace.com/goddessgaggedj
They're cute also.

Barcelona.

So beautiful.
So so beautiful.
Barcelona is the kind of place you want to go to with a boyfriend/husband/partner/companion/spouse (how hard we must try with terminology nowadays to be politically correct!)
I never come back from another country having learnt nothing.
Istanbul was life changing.
And Barcelona was near-perfect.
But I think one thing that I learnt most importantly was what someone I met there told me.
If you ever want to judge a person, walk with him near water. he'll always say the truth.
I don't know how true it is but Water makes me feel just so good.
The Sea. The Sand. The Sun.
That's all I need.
Are you a sun 'n' sand person or a mountain person?

Free Hugs :)

Most people who read this blog understand that I'm a whiny depressed person who's favourite thing in life is wallowing in self pity.
But you must all know,
That those days are (temporarily at least) over. the O-V-U-R over. :P
That I have been feeling exceptionally happy these last few days.
It feels so good. And to tell you the truth, I genuinely forgot what this feels like the last 9 months in Law School.
Everything's perfect. The weather, the friends, the life, etc.
I mean, for once in my life, I'm not complaining :)
Oh and if you abandoned hope and so abandoned visiting the blog, I understand.
I mean, I forgot about it too till someone reminded me of it the other day.
Btw, NLSMUN is happening. Do you want to participate?

Someone stole my thoughts. I think I'll sue him.

Stereotypes are comforting.
So are superstitions.
Being judgmental is okay. Anyone who claims to be not is either Mother Teresa or lying.
Chocolate is the solution to the bluest of the blues.
The Indian Cricket Team is Awesome. Let's Bleed Blue for India.
Communal Violence is sick. I’m saying that in spite of being a Hindu-Gujarati. (Read: Godhra violence)
And the Commonwealth Games are a scam.
Bombay is better than Delhi.
Cosmo and Vogue taught me everything I know.
Fashion Blogs are addictive. Try Purple Peeptoes.
Narendra Modi may be a murderer but he will be a better PM than Rahul Gandhi.
Reality comes in packages of all shapes and sizes. True Story :)

PS- Someone I know forgot to throw out last night's condoms from her pocket. Her grandmother found them and exclaimed, "Already?".

Worms Not Love.

So, I was just reminded of this little poem my sister and I would sing before Valentine's Day so that our Mom would take us on a date :)

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me,
I think I'll go eat worms!
Big fat juicy ones,
Eensie weensy squeensy ones,
See how they wiggle and squirm!
Down goes the first one, down goes the second one,
Oh how they wiggle and squirm!
Up comes the first one, up comes the second one,
Oh how they wiggle and squirm!
I bite off the heads, and suck out the juice,
And throw the skins away!
Nobody knows how fat I grow,
On worms three times a day!
Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
I think I'll go eat worms!
Big fat juicy ones,
Eensie weensy squeensy ones,
See how they wiggle and squirm!
PS- It worked.
PPS- Don't try this with your ex boyfriend.
PPS- Isn't it the cutest song, EVER?
PPPS- Find other awesome songs here
PPPPS- I think I should start using the word worm as an insult. Hard to have a comeback to that one.

Irresponsibility is the New Black.

When did being stupid and irresponsible become Oh So Cool!
I think responsible, nerdy people are cool.
Ok. You win. I'm lying.
But really, this whole "i'm too cool to be responsible proves to extremely expensive". I know people who have lost 15 phones or 3 Blackberries and all that. All at the grand old age of 20.
Daddy's got the money.
But, I'll tell you one thing. Daddy's money is amazingly fun to spend irresponsibly.
So, THAT's why blondes have more fun.
Yes, I know I said that line only a couple of posts ago. But what to do?
Its one of life's truisms.
Well, let's return to me whining about how its become uncool to be smart and responsible.
I'm not blowing my own trumpet or anything, but THAT has ensured my un-coolness.
Gah!
Submitting my projects on time and studying for my exams makes me uncool.
Damn It.
Its a difficult cost-benefit analysis considering I'm a lover of all things cool.
I guess I'll call myself for having lost two (very cheap) phones in the last one year.
And writing bad blog posts.
And procrastinating.
And spending my father's money on unreasonable buys.
Ah! The good, irresponsible life.

PS- But I think the coolest will be when I irresponsibly spend all of my own first salary on this-
The Lady Dior. They call it LOVE at first sight.

Propaganda is Taking over the World.

Did you hear the news?
Not like its news anymore. But even Archie Comics has a new gay character.
So the gay- pride parades work after all and they're not just a bunch of colourful-y dressed people.
I mean. don't get me wrong. I'm not homophobic or anything but I'm not so sure that a 5th grader should acknowledge homosexuality. Not till its not such a big FAT source of AIDS.

Its not just the 377 propaganda.
Its the movies too.
Shiney Ahuja has now been let off. The maid suddenly takes a U turn and decides to tell the court that Shiney didn't rape her. Of course its for the good of all. How could you explain that situation to your 6 year old who just watched Bhool Bhulaiyya and saw his picture in the TOI.

And then there's Queenie Dhody. Why would anyone so fortuitously promote belts. At first I thought it was a love affair. Now I just think she gets them for free.

And there's Gujjus and Socialism and the Congress and morals and SECULARISM (The biggest lie ever, btw)
I mean, seriously.
Can't we just give the propaganda a break?

The Yellow Brick Road is Pink and Shiny :)

Abstractions about metaphysics are probably my favourite pastime :)
This one's about change.
Have you ever noticed how weird that concept is?
And how your affinity to it is pegged to your perception of life at any given time?
One second you're GLAD things have changed and another you hate every bit of the change.
So there is nothing called being comfortable in where and what you are.
Crap.
Optimism is therefore sought after.
Cynicism, on the other hand, is reality.
It's like high waist pants.
Everyone was relieved with the coming of the low waist pants. But then it got uncomfortable in there.
And before we knew it, they were back!
And its not even like it was more than half a century ago.
Weird.
I wonder what is familiar and everlasting then...
I think that's going to be Gold jewelery and Indian women.
But even brides have started picking kundan over gold now.
Confusion.
Indifference.
That's my favourite part about these abstractions.
They're totally irrelevant.
Because there's no point in reflecting about life. You should just restart and follow the yellow brick road... :)

Role Play Anyone?

I'm not an ardent gamer or anything, nor am i a BOY, but there is just something about video games that I really love.
Its perfect.
Perfect when you have nothing to do.
Perfect when you're pissed.
It is an outlet for every last bit of emotion you have in you.
Seriously.
No wonder boyfriends have none left in the relationship. I can bet the clingy ones are the type who don't play any video games.
In the last 5 or 6 odd years I haven't been playing any video games at all.
But when I was a kid, I was HOOKED. Whether it was those arcade games you have in villages or the very first PS 1 or the GameBoy Colour,  I'd have it. Super Mario I think was my best friend at one point of time in my life.
And I had real enemies in Mortal Kombat. I think the source of all my sadism in life is the way the voice used to say "Finish Him". And street fighter (which i played today, btw). The Universe ofcourse revolves around Tekken-6 today.
The MOM got me off it because it wasn't a very girly addiction. Also, I had no grades as a result :P
But, now that I'm at law school, it is a re-found passion.
And yes, of course I suck. :P

Memories anyone?

Dear Feet, Contrary to what you believe, I really do love you :)

Steve Madden Mary Janes

This post is solely dedicated to my love lust for shoes.
Because, if the world was a tuxedo, you wouldn't want to be wearing brown shoes.
It's not like i own a 100 pairs of shoes (maybe 40 odd).
But there is nothing I always want to buy like a good pair of shoes.
The problem is that I am a rational human being and i always thing along the lines of, "How can I walk all over something worth so much money!?"
Which is exactly why i insist that rationality sucks.
But all this has planted one idea in my mind.
The day I can buy a pair of Jimmy Choos without feeling any guilt whatsoever and wear them in the trashiest manner, I will know that I have made it.
*gulp*, Just look at these beauties.

Because It's Always Worth It.

They tell you it's going to get better. But it only gets worse.
They tell you its going to be easy, but its always too hard to fight.
They tell you you can recover, but it's always a black hole.
They tell you you can survive, and you always do.
Because when you think you can't, you've got to

Bangalore Public Transport ≠ Convenient

This post owes its origins to the following picture on MM's facebook profile.
For someone like me who grew up in Bombay, public transport was something that was just there. Never for a minute did i think about how awesome it was. Till i came to Bangalore.
Seriously, there is absolutely no convenient way to get around over here.
The roads are bad and you don;t have the option of taking the train.
The Metro is a Big Fat Lie the Municipal Corporation has been telling people because it's being constructed since about forever and it still seems like ALL of Bangalore is dug up.
The Rickshaw wallah's not only make sure you don't want to say thank you for the ride, they do everything they can to ruin your mood for the day AND burn a hole as big as they can in your pocket.
I used to always think that Bangalore restaurants were cheap. But then I realised  that it was the dining experience was expensive. Just getting there costs you more than the meal.
Who said public transport was always meant to be for convenience?

Down with the Maoists. ^%&&**%^#$

So,
I'm in a rather iconoclastic mood.
Yes, i know, that in all probability I shall have used the above big word inappropriately.
But come on! Cut me some slack and let me feel good about myself.
Yes, so where was I?
Aha!
And the kiss-ass, pathetic government will do nothing about it.
Or rather, they shall pretend to take initiative and then shut up and sit down in a corner with their hands up in surrender to Human Rights.
Really. Jaa ke chudiya pehen lo.
Come on Government, Roll up your sleeves and show them who's boss.
Its like an everyday affair now. People dying in India.
Now i could see that as a good thing with population explosion and everything but i'm a human rights activist at heart and I'm not going to let people- MY PEOPLE- die like that.
I wish we were a more inclusive democracy.
Or at least a more active and involved state.
Gives, India, my motherland an entirely new meaning.

PS- notice how un-feminist this post is. Rather how anti-feminist this post is. I'm fighting against falling for their ideology.
PPS- the context of iconoclastic was- no feminism, no marxism

Personal & Profound (sorry for the interruption)

you know?
I try very very hard to not make this blog personal and pathetic.
but some conversations i have (profound as they are) must be told :)
Its not very easy to understand what kind of person I am from this blog.
So allow me to give you few interested people an insight into my life.

I go to Law School- the Only Law School in India
and stereotypical beliefs from the outside (also from the inside) are that we are all a bunch of "Big Headed, Ambitious, Arrogant people who think they're intellectually superior" to you.
Its true.
Its very very true.

But you know, I harbour hopes of being a good student but never a successful professional.
I don't want to be a corporate power woman who gets married when she's thirty years old.
Is it necessary to want to "live your life" before you get married and bear children? is wanting the latter "being backward"?
Does "living your life" end at marriage?
I'm all feminist right now like i said in my previous post and no one ever claimed that bearing children was wrong. They always wanted the world to accept that "not wanting to bear children" was not wrong.

Why can't i choose to be intellectually empowered and still be a homemaker at heart?
Life throws these important questions in my way all the time. ALL the bloody time.
I think its the time to myself that makes me think.
Its not necessarily a good thing.

I MISS BEING ABLE TO TAKE LIFE LIGHTLY.

PS- To end on a funny note, someone made a claim today-
"Bihar is not a state. It is a state of mind."
Have your laugh. :D

PPS- My post sounds like something out of a Non Fiction Book. Blech

PPS- Buy me a life, somebody?

Some one somewhere is doing exactly the same thing as you are right now

Its creepy.
The thought is creepy.
i can actually bet that someone right now is thinking the exact same thing right now.
Wondering if someone else somewhere else in the world is doing the exact same thing as he/she is and blogging about it.
i never really have thought about it.
but,
one thing i HAVE thought about is that someone somewhere is living his life bit by bit and building it for it to reach the point where his life is ready to intersect with mine.
my soul mate.
how can you not believe in destiny? in soulmates? in the Dil Toh Pagal Hai tagline of "someone somewhere is made for you"?

PS- notice how my "he"s have become he/she's :D
its my new found feminism talking.
'he' maybe a linguistic convention but you should see how the bias has creeped into something as foundational as our pronouns.
(I'm trying really hard to not become a feminist. Relax)

You all have these at your gym. You do. Don't Lie.

So,
I realized that if i stay at law school and don't exercise, I will become-

a) Fat
b) Unhappy
c) Unhealthy

i allowed my fitness-obsessed friend pull me along to The Gym. We had never really set foot into the college gym but we made our judgments based on the rest of the infrastructure (yes, i'm judgemental, don't judge me for it!) and went to the closest other gym- Dumbbells (I've never really learnt how to spell that word) .
I've been there just four days now but i have a theory about people at the gym. Every gym has these- look for yours.

The Body Builder
Duh! You've got to know which one is yours. He pumps some iron and then pumps some more. Even after everything on him is muscle. Everything. I mean, you've got to look mean to scare the bad guys away but sir, you're scaring the girls away to now.

The Fat One Running for His/Her Life
Self Explanatory.

The Exemplary One
The one everyone points out and says, she/he was really fat you know and now look at her! so thin. Mean, weightist people.

The Little One who Wants to be Fit
Sure. Don't lie. You're really scary if you think you're fat when you're grossly underweight. Or maybe I'm jjust jealous.

The Fit One
Perfect. I wish.

The One who Signs Up and Never Comes
I thought I was going to be that type. Its too early to tell :P

The Eye Candy
The one you stare at when your iPod runs out of battery.

The Pushy Trainer
yours is one too. Yes, it is part of their job profile.

Its not hard to spot them once you're looking. And it gives you something to do while you behave masochistically and push your boundaries of fitness. Have fun gymming! :D

Questions. So many Unanswered Questions.

I just had a long conversation on the terrace with a friend.
The terrace on a starless summer night.
Brings out philosphy out of you in its own magical way.
 And we talked.
About life and the uncertainty that it brings along with it.
About law school which squeezes all the juice out of you or at least shows you how much can be sqeezed out of you.
About upbringing and how it gives you a choice- to be the person your world wants you to be or to be the person you want to be.
We talked of how the +1 in our equilibrium will affect our ability to take objective decisions.
And wondered if we'd be able to stay in love with one person for the rest of our lives.
We said our deepest fears out loud. A failed marriage? A disabled child. We made our fears real.
We looked around and judged the place life has brought us to one more time and laughed at our inability to conceive what the place shall make of us in five years.
will these thoughts and revelations and our understanding of them change anything in our life.

unanswered questions. fear.
Is it that we are bound by destiny?

small post- sorry

So, what is the purpose of advertising?
Getting people to buy what your selling right?
so WHY in the world would you put a picture like this on your product page.
It grosses me out so much, i want to avert my eyes, forget buy this product.
Btw- its an ad for a mosquito repellant.
I was on that page because the mosquitoes on campus nowadays are keeping me occupied.

There are somethings money can't buy, for everything else there's MasterCard

There are so many things in the world which are invaluable to you.
Sometimes Most of the time, you just don't notice.
Like, you never knew how MUCH you loved the sound and the smell of the sea till it was taken away from you.
Like memories of those special moments in your life which you want to remember to tell your great grandchildren.
Like the moments you create doing some things, with some people, some times.
Like public transport in Mumbai.
Like Mamma's food.
Like finishing a book but wishing there were more pages.
Like fighting with your sibling.
Like shopping like a maniac and then complaining about how things don't fit in your wardrobe.
Like being able to call some place Home.
Like Hindi and English (and not Tamil and Kannada) music on the radio.
Like the COOOOOOL invention which is the mosquito-killer raquet.
Like tasty Lip Gloss.
Like Air Conditioners.
Like Birthdays.
Like buying something from your own savings/earnings.

DISCLAIMER:
A lot of things on my list can be bought. I was just pointing out their awesome-ness.

FYI:
Eunuchs in Bombay now expect Rs. 50 notes in alms.
When i gave one a Rs. 10 note- he/she made a face and said "isme kya aayega. Hmmph"
Jeez!

No Law School, Baby!

INGREDIENTS FOR AN AWESOME HOLIDAY:

Home
Good Food
Good Books
Movies
Internet
Friends
bombay
Something to Show Off
Something New to Try Out

Seriously.
A good holiday needs nothing but home. And the guaranteed fact that there is no Law School factor to haunt you.
I mean, can you imagine sleeping (read:sprawling) on the bed you've grown up sleeping in. The same bed where  you know the exact spots which are super comfortable and those which just give you bad dreams? Ahh! The mother getting you breakfast and the crisp newspaper in bed.
who needs strawberries and champagne?

That, along with whatever you want to eat a phone call/room away ;)

Reading... till the words are spinning images in your mind. You aren't interpreting them in your mind anymore. feeling what the character is feeling, seeing what the writer wants to show you. Just getting lost in the world created by that book in your hands.

Fake DVDs. The worst and best thing that ever happened. The worst for obvious reasons and the best because you know how to catch up on the movies you just missed from the cinema halls. Those which you can't wait to watch and so won't wait till the original comes out so you can pay three times a cinema hall ticket's worth for it.<3 Popcorn and Pepsi Combos <3
that with your local cinema hall. The one where your maternal uncle can get you the best seats in just by making call. They really still make those.

Accessing the internet and using StumbleUpon. Randomly browsing blogs. Doing NOTHING productive. That's the real reason they made the internet. Thank You Gods of the Internet.

Meeting all your friends and seeing the familiar faces in your local hang out. Marvelling how the waiter has now become the restaurant manager. Checking out and disapproving of the new young ones who've started coming and sitting on YOUR table. :)

This, in the perfect setting of Bombay. With the Beach and the Bombabes :) the cutting chaiwala and the women drivers rolling their windows down and abusing the shit out of men picking on them. The rickshaws and the taxis you pay by T card. The Street food and the fancy restaurants. The heat and the Mumbai Local. C'est Parfait.

Learning to Drive (and screwing up in the process). Showing off how cool living away from home is and pretending to be more awesome and successful than the rest of them at home, knowing all along that you'd switch with them any minute if they'd ask you. Always having something to talk about and someone to talk to.

And finally
Mangoes are here!!!!

There is nothing else i need. Yes, i will go back to law school visibly fatter. But its not lard ;) Its happiness i'm full of :P [that is NOT denial]

Real Blonde Moments. Everyone has them.

I understand intellectualism and meaningful conversation and high IQs and I have a whole lot of those people around me a lot of time but really, don't you think you have more fun when you're actually NOT that smart?

Some moments in my life give the "blondes have more fun" cliché so much more weight.

I mean, wouldn't you really for one moment in your life at least, want to forget the difference between communism and communalism?
or for that matter,
not get a really smart joke someone made and have it explained to you?
or
look for the pencil which is tucked behind your ear?
or
want to say "I" when someone asks you the capital of India?

Life would be so much simpler then.
Minimum information. Minimum Expectation. Maximum Fun.

The Joys of Nothing

You know how sometimes you want to do just absolutely nothing.
Nothing to the extent that you can notice the silence (or the noise) or the temperature or the fact that your stomach hasn't growled in hours?
The wonderful feeling of having done NOTHING productive in the last 72 hours?
Its a for of art in itself. Aesthetic (or not) pleasure.
i mean this is what i did today-
  • Slept
  • Slept some more
  • Cooked
  • Ate
  • Snacked ;)
  • Watched Grey's Anatomy
  • Bathed for Ever
  • Slept
The Joys of Nothing.

I mean, don't get me wrong.
I'm not saying that its a great thing if it goes on for too long, because then the silence will just eat you up and you'll think about all the bad things in the world and then your life will be unconstructive and you'll realise it and you'll curse yourself for it and it goes on.
But sometimes, when you've had a really fast (i hate the word hectic for some reason and therefore I'm not using it) few months and your brain has constantly been at work and then Bam! You get a break and a chance to do nothing, just get fat. It feels just Great!

Even if theres (sickly!) snow around and a grumpy sibling and a stupid old plastic country, if you're doing nothing, sometimes its just plain awesome. [As long as you're not worrying about not fitting into the new set(s) of clothes you just bought]

Plus One?
